"When I feel lost, I am not at all."

So I've uploaded some random old pages... (Not sure why but I've been in the mood to upload old things - maybe I just want the excuse to look through them.) They're from a book that only two people have ever seen before! <3

It was a book I started when I fell for my husband. And while now it's mainly writing, back in the day of free time it use to be a bit art journaly. I skipped all the pages of just writing. (There's a good deal of that.) But be warned! It's full of mushy love guts.

I also finished up The Saint and The Snake. (which is a big deal for me... that one is over 2 years old. heh.) But I finished it in time to give it to my friend who is helping me out with a show coming up. Yay! On the 5th of June I'll have a few pieces (7 or so) up in an even called The Marietta Art Walk. The event lasts all weekend, but the work will stay up for the entire month.

Book Help...
(again) I know.

I'm having some design problems. I'm working on getting the illustration list all set up. (It turns out - that beside printing out the top 30 - they want a list of ALL the illustrations I'm planning on using. Pretty much page for page.)

Here's where I'm torn - I have several different size books.

I can plan to make the 8x10 and blow the smaller pages larger? (I have no idea if they'll still "look" right?)

I can make the book smaller. 5x7 (I think.) And shrink the bigger pages down? (I'm assuming on the specific page that details may get lost.)

Or I can do the 5x7 and turn the larger pages on their side. Which would put the fold of the binding right across the middle of the page. :/ Also... that would pretty much kill larger spreads.

Thoughts? Anyone book design savy? Any input or ideas I might have missed are more than appreciated.

And lastly, to my lovely writer friends (and any friend really...) I'm so close to finishing the introduction, but I wouldn't mind some feed back on it. I want to make sure it's not too corny. Too cliche. And not too other horrible things. But I'm not going to post it. (eek!) So I'll note it if you're willing/interested in reading my horrible writing and helping me be better.

As always, you guys are wonderful.

I hope everyone is well.
  • Mood: Affection
  • Listening to: Hot Knives - Bright Eyes
  • Watching: New Moon Trailer - you caught me.
  • Playing: Amateur Surgeon on my phone... <3
  • Drinking: wanting some water... now that it's mentioned.

Thank you.
I'm pretty good at personal.
The only time I get nervous is when I'm showing it in person or when someone I know in real life sees it. You know?

<3

And no worries about the book thing.
Just thought I'd throw that out there to opening brainstorm with people. There are brilliant minds on DA.

No problem!
I can see that :]
Ahhh, I know exactly what you mean - it doesn't actually feel as weird, I guess when it's to total strangers.

<33

:XD: Yeah let the actual people with brains deal with it :P

Exactly. I'm not sure why that is... safety in a type of anonymousness? (new word!)

And bah! I've seen your work! There's a brain there! <3

Make it 8x10 or whatever your largest size is, then on the pages that include 5x7 just have even white space around the edges. I'm not sure if that'll work for your pieces but that's what I'm planning to do with my book (whenever THAT happens lol).

Hahaha well first I need to make more pieces after the horrible Computer Crash 2009 :tears:
Also! I could read your intro, if you haven't already had a zillion people jump at the chance ~_^ I was a writing tutor at my school for a year!!

Well, (although I hate CC'09) I won't complain about more Missed Connections. I check out my local one every so often - and it's HORRIBLE! Finding anything of interest is... extremely difficult.

And thank you! I appreciate it. (I haven't really had that many takers.) I need to type it up. And read through it one last time, and then I'll note it to you. It's not too long. Writing an Introduction like this about myself has been pretty difficult for me. So I really appreciate all and any input.

send anything my way and you know i'll read it. :)
i wish i was close by to come to see your art on display. but you PROMISED me pictures. :)

also, i can see your books in all different sizes. do you think it could be possible to do a big book, and have smaller pages inside? different shaped pages, different types, etc? I just feel your small pages are small for a reason. You know? Like, you would have made them bigger if they were right for that size. But thats just one persons opinion. I love books who throw surprises at you too. I think it would be neat seeing different sizes in a book- it's so unexpected. And creative.

I can't wait to check out all your old stuff. espically if someone sparked it. :)

i also feel like you'd be good at doing a 'children's book per say, but like, teaching adults to find te child in them. call it the 'childrens book' just like 'the love book' and so forth, but fill it with quotes and wonders that you have found in your daughter and things you miss from your childhood? I know when I think back and wonder why I was so naive as a kid, I forget how wonderfuly lucky children are to have that. Maybe look up some children\s quotes on big world subjects, get eden to draw or paint something, use lots of nature and the realworld stuff rather than man made things.
if that makes any sense....or if it strikes an interest. I just think you'd do so well in that asnd teach others to justbe free and open with their mind like you so very much are!

Just some ideas. I'll be on all this week in spurts- I have some work to do as well as work out every day (I have to also listen to some schizphernia tapes for my mummy and being home alone can be a tad scary for hearing them)

Anyways, have fun reading my BOOOK here haha. I am sorry. :)
