Hey guys!
Sorry I disappeared for a bit there.
The hubby and I traveled to New Orleans for the wedding of our close friends.
It was our first weekend to ourselves since we've had our daughter and we really enjoyed ourselves.
Needless to say - I haven't done ANY art.
I *did* take a trip to the cemeteries down there, and while I don't consider myself any kind of photographer (besides a very very amateur one) I still think I'll share one or two. <3
More photos can be seen here:
[link]Also- TONS of messages/deviations to go through. But they all will get some attention here soon. Thanks for being patient.
Hope everyone is well.
I feel like then I would have a better grasp on all the damage that was done.
I think I really missed/drove past most of it.
We stayed at Place D'Arms in the French Quarter. It was super nice. I saw very little damage in the area that I was in.
But I didn't go on a tour or anything. And I went exploring a little bit on my own, but I really didn't have too much free time as I was there for a wedding - a in it - there it was pretty much bachelorette party, rehearsal dinner, wedding, reception, home,
I'll definitely have to go back sometime and give the city a better explore.
There were a lot of people staying at the church who were able to tell their story.. and I talked a lot to the woman whose house we painted. Her story was absolutely heartbreaking.. all of her belongings were lost in the storm, and two months after the storm her husband passed away. And this is years after the storm actually took place. There's still so much damage.
I had a friend that recently was with Ameri Corps. And they spent a good bit of time in LA. But I think it was away from the city.
I should sit her down when we both have free time and listen to her stories. <3
Oooh, photos? :3
It was a lovely vacation.
I get to go on another vacation in July. This time with my daughter and hubby and I'm looking forward to that as well. I'm a pretty lucky lady.
