So I was suppose to have a "show" sort of last night.

There's this local art event that happens in the summer called The Art Walks, where art is displayed in the square and people can walk around and see it and the little shops and stores give away free little things.

My friend works at an ice cream parlor and agreed to put up my art.

This was exciting for me because I've never had my art displayed anywhere public before. I worked super hard getting pieces finished so that they could be displayed.

Well, the owner of the place decided not to hang my work last night because he thought it was too melancholy.

The really sad part is... it wasn't really any of my sad stuff.

Oh well.

There will always be other chances, right?

Oh that's frustrating!
Its sad when someone gets you excited for something, and then bursts your bubble all in one round. :(

That's the problem with having buisness owners who have no background in art decide to hang or not hang...most art is evocative and raises some sort of feeling from the viewer...what the hell did he want, some boring Thomas Kincaid crap that all look the same???

Don't worry about, but do try to get your art hung at other venues that have a broader range.
I had my first show at a tattoo parlor for our first friday art walk...

I think that IS the problem. They are BUSINESS owners - everything is business. I guess people who look at melancholy art buy less ice cream? I don't know about you - but I tend to eat MORE ice cream when I'm feeling melancholy. heh.

But yeah - my friend said each time they displayed photography and no fine art. So she was really excited about having my work up there. : / (Not that there's anything wrong with photography at all - I guess I'm just picturing simple black and white flower shots or something.)

A tattoo shop would be a cool first show.

Also - <3 for the Thomas Kincaid comment.

Friends like that who needs enemies?

You're such an incredible artist and you will be in another show. Then in that one show you will become famous.

Then after you have become famous you will forget all of us little people. So I sabotaged the icecream owners wafflecones with a mind controlling drug. I then implanted the suggestions not to display them. That way you will not forget us little people that love your art.

<3 Well, my friend was on my side - it was just her boss that wasn't.

Thank you.

And actually, I think you've got me all wrong. I'm one of those that will be plugging names of the amazing artists I know now if I ever get to be super successful or something. (which really isn't what I'm going for... but it might be cool for a little bit.)

I love sharing art of the amazing people I know with other people.
